I just received these yesterday, after careful deliberation regarding my next pair of Red Wings. My last pair of RW pull-on's (1097's - closest comparison is to the current 1125's) have lasted me over 10 years, & i'm still wearing them. But these 6499's feel like a great compromise of style, comfort, durability, and workability. They are extremely snug... and I love that. They will break in, I'm sure of it. I would not recommend getting them a size larger at all. I appreciated the previous reviewer's points (who went through all kinds of brands for her husband) very much. It's nice to find Red Wing fans - these shoes are no joke. (Perhaps I'll review them again in +6 months after we've had more time to get acquainted.)

My boyfriend worked on the oil pipeline, in Missouri this summer. Lots and lots of rain and mud; these boots kept his feet dry through it all. Each day he would hose them off in the car wash, let them dry overnight, and wear them again the next day. He sprayed them with waterproofing spray from Walmart every three or four weeks.
